Restaurants
Most restaurant answers are wrong by dinner service.
Hours change, menus change seasonally, and availability changes hourly. Restaurants are where assistants are most confidently wrong, because there is a great deal of stale information about them on the open web and no way for a model to tell which copy is current.
What a customer types
- “Table for six tonight near me”
- “Gluten free options, open now”
- “What is on the prix fixe this week?”
- “Do they take walk-ins on a Tuesday?”
One business gets named. Dietary claims. An allergen answer has to come from the dish record, never from a model's impression of the cuisine.
These are the questions deciding it.
Asked of an assistant, not typed into a search box. One business gets named.
Table for six tonight near me
Gluten free options, open now
What is on the prix fixe this week?
Do they take walk-ins on a Tuesday?
So the answer has something true to come from
- The current menu, with dietary attributes on individual dishes
- Real hours per location, including the kitchen closing before the bar
- Reservation availability rather than a booking link
- Private dining and large party rules
Not describe. Finish.
- Check a real table at a real time
- Answer a dietary question against the dish, not the cuisine
- Book the reservation and confirm it
- Take a large party enquiry with the date and headcount attached
Anything that reaches a human is staged for the customer to confirm. The agent does the work; the person keeps the decision.
The thing to get right in restaurants
Dietary claims. An allergen answer has to come from the dish record, never from a model's impression of the cuisine.
